1,017 record in 2017 for Fuso New Zealand
In its first calendar year of trading, Fuso New Zealand has smashed the previous record for Fuso truck and bus sales in NZ by more than 20%, registering 1,017 units in 2017.
Focused on a primary goal of ‘Delivering Better’, the company did just that by achieving a 17.6% share of the market – a 99.8% increase on its 2016 position.
“We didn’t head out to set the world on fire,” said managing director Kurtis Andrews. “Our main goal for the year was to develop a business that would allow Fuso trucks to realise their potential in New Zealand – thanks to our highly experienced and passionate dealer network, the foundation was already in place.
Putting the result into perspective, the average annual sales of the brand over the preceding five years was 540 units, with the previous sales record of 787 set in 2014.
With most systems and personnel now in place, 2018 offers some exciting opportunities for Fuso NZ.
“Now we’re set up, we’re in a position to focus on selling trucks and continuing to deliver better for our customers. We’ve got some exciting products landing in 2018, and we’re all pretty excited about the opportunities they’ll bring.” ... See MoreSee Less

Careers to be showcased at Trucking Show 2018
In a bid to showcase trucking industry careers to a wider audience, a specific Careers Event is to be held on Friday 9th March 2018 at the TMC Trailers Trucking Industry Show 2018.
Schools and training organisations have been invited on hosted tours for a look behind the scenes at various aspects of the trucking industry.
With ongoing and growing shortage in all areas of the trucking industry we wanted to organise an event were groups could be introduced to people who are doing the job says show organiser Carol McGeady. “It will show what’s new in the industry and companies can highlight career pathways, so the participants can start planning their studies,” she said.
Truck rides, a free entry ticket to the Saturday show day and a barbecue will be held as part of the visits. The students will also receive a goodie bag packed with information and giveaways.
The industry now needs to get behind this initiative and help by volunteering to take a group around. You can contact Rebecca Dinmore at NZ Trucking Association 021 069 2841

Volvo Trucks increase capacity to meet demand
Following record demand, the Volvo Trucks Factory in Wacol Queensland has again increased capacity to ensure future capability to meet customer’s needs.
Vice President Volvo Truck Sales Australia, Mitch Peden, says that “On-going demand in New Zealand has been a large part of the decision to further increase build capacity. Every time we have increased supply in 2017, demand has quickly outstripped it. We are very confident that in 2018 we will be in a position to build more trucks than our customers will have demand for”.
MTD Trucks NZ National Sales Manager for Volvo Trucks Clive Jones, confirms exceptional demand from Kiwi customers. “The total heavy truck market in New Zealand is well up on last year but our market share indicates significantly higher growth than our competitors. We are grateful our customers who are pre-planning and making orders in advance despite some long lead times”. ... See MoreSee Less
